My mobile phone is so clever that if I take it when I go running, it will record the exact path I took. I can even view this path overlaid on a map of Salford.
Imagine if each of us recorded our movements in this way every day. By the end of the week, what would our ‘runs’ look like?
Perhaps we’d see the runs to work; to school; to friends or relatives; to church; to hospital; to places we volunteer; to other parts of the UK or further afield.
In this week ahead God has a unique path for each of us. We will encounter people and situations in which he calls us to be His love; to speak His wisdom, encouragement and peace; to be signposts to Jesus in sometimes difficult circumstances.
Imagine all of our runs combined onto a single map: hundreds of paths that intersect on Sunday at Elmwood; and after that, fan out to Salford and Manchester; stretching out to the UK and beyond. God is weaving an intricate pattern from the weekly lives of His people at Elmwood.
Therefore, let us not grow weary but run with purpose and perseverance, our eyes fixed on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of our faith.
