Image for The Life of David

For all those who travel the journey of faith with Christ, the road is marked by all sorts of surprises and difficulties, delights and disappointments and hopes and fears. Our emotions change with those experiences and changed circumstances. So many people in the Bible have similar “ups” and “downs”. We will learn much from King David as we journey with him through some of the highs and lows in his life. Hopefully, reflecting on his life will help us in our walk with Christ.

1 Samuel 16:1-13

1 Samuel 17:32-50 & 18:5-7

We all know how character building it can be to face adversity. I wonder if we realise just how telling our response to success is. When someone moves from obscurity to fame and adulation the pressures can be immense. What does David teach us in this regard?

Part 3: Dealing with Despair

Samuel 15:1-18 & 18:31 - 19:8

How should we respond when the worst things happen? Christians are not immune to the tragedies that affect the world around us. How would God have us respond to our pain and loss? David knew crushing grief and loss but moved forward in the grace God provided.
