After the morning service, Sunday 14th June

Elmwood’s rep for Open Doors, Helen Patterson writes:

“It’s that time of year again! The time when we donate in return for cakes to eat with our tea and coffee. You can take some home too, as we always have plenty.

Yes, I’m hoping all you bakers will donate your wonderful cakes to this event once again. Just bring them on the day.

This year we’re helping Christians in Iraq.

As you are probably aware many are living in desperate need in refugee camps. Open Doors has already helped Daniel, a refugee worker, to set up a tent where the children sing and dance and hear Bible stories. Daniel calls it the ‘Centre with Relatives’.

So let’s provide help for other Christian brothers and sisters in Iraq, remembering Jesus’ words in Matthew 25 v 40, ‘I assure you, when you did it to the least of these my brothers and sisters you were doing it to me!’”
