On Sunday 28th June we are giving a fond farewell and a Big Thank You to David, Kerry, Ryan and Lewis Oakley. David is taking up a new role in Ohio, USA with Ambassadors Football (AF) as Global Director for Training – investing in the next generation of coaches.

David came to Eccles Evangelical Church as a student in 1982. He had some years away while working as an insurance underwriter (!) and then joined Ambassadors in Sport  ministering in the Czech Republic. In 1998 he returned to the UK and Elmwood Church.
Here he got involved in Salt Cellar, youth work and began public speaking. One recurring theme was his desire to find a wife! On an Oak Hall Christian holiday he found Kerry and they were married in 2001.

Over the years it has been a joy to see God develop David’s gift for preaching and we have also benefited from his time as a leader and trustee, despite him often being abroad, in the USA, South Africa, and France as well as all over the UK. Kerry, who is a children’s play specialist, worked locally until the boys arrived. At Elmwood she has been on the team organising women’s occasional events, and helped run the Toddler group that Elmwood ran for families with babies who had neonatal problems.

Please pray for the Oakleys as they step out in faith, get ready to move, sell the house, and seek a new home and schools for the boys in America; that they will soon find their place in this new adventure God has planned for them.
