In our Sunday morning services since Easter we’ve been learning about church community. Chris has been teaching us what the church has to offer us. From Sunday 16th June he will be focusing on what we as individual Christians can give to our church community.
There is such joy to be had in being part of a Christian community. Ideally our church family is a place where we can rejoice together, suffer alongside one another and, as others go through life’s challenges, walk along the way with them.
Being part of a church community is not without difficulty though. We are all human, and like family, we can rub each other up the wrong way! Sometimes we clash and disagree. The good news is that we can look for help in this passage from 1 Corinthians 12: 25 – 27.
“. . . so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it. Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
Let’s aim to be the best community we can. And when things get tough, let’s aim to struggle together, to rejoice together and to bear with one another.
