We love it when our own people or our great guest speakers bring a specific and timely message from God's word to us - this is a collection of those messages from 2016.

Part 4: Love, Learn, Serve, Reach

by David Fowler April 10, 2016 10:30am

The call upon Elmwood is to LOVE one another, LEARN to obey, SERVE God and REACH out to all with the good news of Jesus. We examine what it means to become 'a loving and learning Jesus-centred family, serving God as we reach our community.'

Part 5: Adopted into God’s Family

by Mike Hall April 17, 2016 10:30am

Romans 8:14 - 17

Paul uses the Roman practice of adoption as a profound picture of God’s loves for us. As God’s adopted children we have a new Father, Future, Family and it is Forever! As God’s adopted family the church is called to share this adoptive love with each other and the world.

by Derek Stringer May 1, 2016 6:30pm

Romans 13:1-7

Teaching about government and the tool to cast our vote effectively.

Part 7: Pentecost

by David Fowler May 15, 2016 10:30am

Acts 1 & 2

Pentecost is the unsung celebration in the church's calendar but in reality it's the day Christians appropriate all the blessings arising from Jesus' birth, death and resurrection. We mine Acts 1 & 2 for the many treasures that the Holy Spirit brings.

Part 8: What are you Living for?

by Dave Oakley June 12, 2016 10:30am

Hebrews 11:32-40

What are we living for temporary earthly benefits that ultimately do not fulfil or a 'Well Done' commendation from the Creator God, the King of kings and Lord of lords that will ultimately count for the length of eternity. Yes this heavenly commendation may cost as the Old Testament hero of faith Samson found out but the benefits of a godly honour, victory and fantastic heavenly benefits makes the life of faith ultimately superior. Samson was flawed like all of us but he gained heaven by living the life of faith ... find out how by considering Hebrews 11:32-40.

Part 9: Vision in Focus

by David Fowler July 3, 2016 10:30am

Mark 10:21

What does it mean to be a church that reaches out? Not least is to give those we are called to serve and intercede for our undivided attention - as Jesus always did. Mark 10 v 21 records that Jesus 'looked and loved' before he replied to the rich young man, Christians must do no less...

Part 10: Difficult People

by Berni Dymet October 2, 2016 10:30am

Matthew 13:24-30

We all have difficult people in our lives. And so often we ask God “Lord why is this person in my life? Why is this so hard?!” And yet, God’s thoughts aren’t our thoughts. His ways aren’t our ways. And when it comes to the difficult people in our lives, He often has a plan. A plan to change us. A plan to mature us. A plan for us, to share His love with those difficult people, in the way that He share His love with you and me. So this Sunday, discover God’s plan, God’s wisdom … for dealing with the difficult people in your life.

Part 11: The Ugly Cross and The Beautful Church

by David Fowler November 13, 2016 10:30am

Ephesians 4

Christ has paid a terrible price in order to purchase the salvation of his people, the church. He died and rose again in obedience to his Father in order to be able to present to himself a beautiful bride. Christians are called to live beautiful lives which radiate Jesus and which bless the loves of all around them.

Part 12: Mary’s Song: What is God Like?

by Chick Yuill December 4, 2016 10:30am

Luke 1:46-55

When Mary is visited by the angel Gabriel, it is not only her own life that is turned upside down. It is the beginning of a new world order. And her song of praise expresses what that means for the world. Neither Karl Marx nor any of the other heroes of communism ever produced a more revolutionary manifesto than Mary's hymn of praise!

Part 13: Zechariah’s Song: Why do You Need God?

by Chick Yuill December 18, 2016 10:30am

Luke 1:68-79

Luke paints a beautiful word-picture of Zechariah and Elizabeth, an elderly couple living devout lives at a very dark time in Israel’s history. And when Zechariah has an unforgettable encounter with an angelic visitor in the temple, their deepest longings are fulfilled. Though his first response is one of doubt, his story climaxes with a magnificent song of prayer and prophecy.
