All of us, from time to time, have had the experience of being stuck in a holding pattern; like an aircraft. We feel as if we are going around in circles. Holding patterns are a normal part of life, but we are not intended to stay in them forever! In this series, we will track one of God's Old Testament wounded heroes - Abraham - and learn from him some of the ways The Lord moves us on to higher levels. This series is an ongoing series by visiting speaker Rob Whittaker, Principal at Capernwray Bible School

by Rob Whittaker December 8, 2013 10:30am

Genesis 11: 31-

Why is it possible for some of us to be 'parked up' not where God wants us to be? The answer is because of limited choices in the present due to lousy choices in the past. The good news is that this is not the end of your journey but the beginning of a new adventure as God speaks to you again! Part 4: God Is Not Finished With You Yet

by Rob Whittaker December 8, 2013 6:30pm

Genesis 11: 31-

God can speak to us, call us and give us directions as to where he wants us to be and yet we somehow end up 'parked' somewhere between here and there. However, God says to you - I still love you, I'm still for you and I'm still with you if you are a believe in Jesus. God will help you get back to a future that is not tyrannised by your past. Part 5: Getting back moving with God

by Rob Whittaker April 27, 2014 10:30am

Genesis 11 & 12

Where ever we are and whoever we are in terms of believing in God or not believing in God we can always move on to another level. If you are going through a nightmare caused by someone else or by your own making God is not finished with you yet. God is seeking to do some awesome things in us and grow us into the best version of us we can be.

Part 6: Getting out of a holding pattern

by Rob Whittaker September 14, 2014 10:30am

Genesis 11: 27 - 32

What does God do to move us on? He removes a problem that we can do nothing about. Maybe the Lord moves us on by letting us get bored with where we are. A place that seems so attractive may just be very unfulfilling. Sometimes he moves us on by just letting us get fed up with the consequences of our own choices.

Part 7: The Will of God

by Rob Whittaker September 14, 2014 6:30pm

What do we mean when we talk about the 'Will of God'? It is all very theological. Statements like 'It was God's Will' or 'It was the Will of God' are absolutely fine until something crummy happens in our lives or the lives of the ones we love. As we do life and we are available to Jesus and we walk into rotten, difficult situations, Jesus can, along side us, bring something beautiful into this situations.

Instead of trusting the Lord, crying out to Him and obeying Him, he took things into his own hands with some short term and long term disastrous results. How should we respond when legitimate needs are unmet and screaming out in our lives?
