What To Expect When You Visit

We know that stepping into a church for the first time can be difficult. What can I expect? And what will be expected of me? Consequently, on this page, we aim to answer many of the nuts & bolts type questions you may want to ask before you come and check us out for yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some key questions are answered below but if you’d like to know more please don’t hesitate to contact us or speak to someone at the Welcome Area by the black sofas when you arrive.

When to come?

Elmwood services start at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm each Sunday and most people arrive about 10 to 15 minutes early. We hope you will experience a wonderful time of worship, learning and fellowship with us. You can expect uplifting worship, a relevant bible message and an informal style.

What to wear?

Just be yourself. People at Elmwood wear a real mix of styles – jeans, shorts, T-shirts, Sunday best, smart casual…etc. We don’t have a dress code, so please wear what you feel comfortable in.

How to find Elmwood?

Elmwood is located on Eccles Old Road, Salford, M6 8AG. Please see the Contact Us page for a map.

We are located in Salford – with fantastic road links via the M602 and the East Lancs, and served by seven bus routes stopping within 50 yards of the church doors!

A helpful local landmark is Salford Royal (known to most as Hope Hospital) which is directly across from us on Eccles Old Road.

For Sat Nav please use postcode M6 8FP and accept ‘Wilton Rd’ if it’s offered – Elmwood faces Eccles Old Rd, but the church car park is accessed via Wilton Rd.

What’s on for children?

Little Salties is for 0 – 3′s and is available from half way through the morning service. Your young ones will be lovingly cared for from the moment you take them through – allowing you the luxury of enjoying the remaining worship and teaching uninterrupted! If it would help you are welcome to stay with your child in the room while they settle in.

Salt Cellar is for children from 3 – 11 years (Pre-school – Year 6). – with great age appropriate activities – including Bible Stories, Games, Quizzes, Craft, Memory Verses, competitions and much more.

Our teenagers enjoy a mix of activities that stretch and inspire them – either in age relevant groups called Dare 2 (11-14’s) and Impact (15-18’s) or in the main service.

What about the offering?

As our honoured guest we won’t be expecting you to give to Elmwood – even if your visit happens to coincide with the monthly offering – held at the services on the first Sunday of each month. The life and mission of Elmwood and of many other Christian organisations and individuals is financially supported by members who give regularly – usually by monthly standing orders or direct debits. If you would like to support the ministry then please feel free to do so – but don’t feel under any obligation!
